LEADERSHIP & AUTHORITY

Hello
Hello my beloved saints, I wish you a great and prosperous month of November. I believe the Word of God is producing fruits in you as it does in the life of all who put their focus on it.

One of the things that God dislikes is insubordination. He hates rebellion to authority because it destroys the work of God and creates an open door for Satan to reveal his own vision. Insubordination creates division and a split in the body of Christ. (Good) Leadership creates followership and followership creates open door of God’s blessing upon the followers. This is made possible as revealed in Psalm 133:1-3. But God has never called or used a perfect person. Everyone God has used in history has his or her own limitations. But as followers we are not to focus or dwell on the weakness of our leaders but rather on the grace of God upon their lives. Hence, Paul said in Romans 14:4, “Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? To his master he standeth or fallen. Yea he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.”
It is not of you as followers to begin to criticize and speak against your leaders. Though they may have done wrong but it is not your office or right to oppose them. If you do you will be blamed for it. Remember that your pastor or his wife and other leaders in Church are not your servants but God’s servants. God is the one that will judge them if need be not you. Some certain persons in the Bible made such mistake and they paid dearly for it. Numbers 12:1-10, Miriam and Aaron began to speak against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman that he married. Of a truth Moses did break the law of God which says that the children of Israel must not marry a non-Israelite but Moses did and Miriam and Aaron picked offence. They began to say that it is not only Moses God has called, God also called us. Moses’s arrogance is getting too much. A little boy of yesterday, and God heard them and brought a curse upon them.

Do you know that Mariam was never used of God after that incident? Also, Aaron died disgracefully. Numbers 20:25-28. What about Korah, Dathan and Abiram with their two hundred and fifty congregations who rebelled against Moses in Numbers 16:1-33? They were all buried alive before the congregation of Israel. The earth opened up and swallowed them. Ephesians 6:5 says, “Servant, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of heart as unto Christ.” See Christ in your leaders. Relate with them as unto Christ. Jesus said to the disciples in Matthew 10:40, “ He that recieveth you recieveth me, and he that recieveth me recieveth he that sent me.” Whatever you do to your leader you do to Christ. Ephesians 6:7-8, “With good will doing service, as to the Lord and not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he bond or free.”

Resisting authority releases curses and never blessings. Be careful enough to walk in obedience towards your leaders. 1st Timothy 5:17, “let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.” 1st Thessalonians 5:12-13, “And we beseech you brethren, to know them which labour among you and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; And to esteem them very highly in love for their work sake. And be at peace among yourselves.” Hebrews 13:17, “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.”
 CAUSES OF REBELLION
1. Pride – Romans 12:3, “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; …” One of the definition of pride is thinking that you are better than others.

2. Offences – Matthew 11:6, “And blessed is he, whosever shall not be offended in me.” John the Baptist rebelled against Jesus because he was offended.

3. Gossip – Proverbs 6:6-19, “This six things doth the LORD hate: Yea, seven are an abomination unto him.”…he that soweth discord among brethren.”

4. Lack of Knowledge – Isaiah 5:13, “Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge and their honourable men are famished and their multitude dried up with thirst.” Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…”

Beloved, learn to be submissive to authority and as you do may God continue to increase you on every side and enlarge your coast.

God bless you, see you next month
