UPON THIS PREMISE

Hello my dearly beloved saints, I bring you greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I thank God that you are living in grace and victory of our Lord. I want to admonish you on what I titled ‘Upon This Premise’.

The bible says in the book of John 16:7-8 thus, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.” Upon these premise or foundation lies our victory in Christ Jesus. Jesus says when He comes He will (1) reprove the world of sin, (2) of righteousness and (3) of Judgment. John 16:9-11. “Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.” Jesus Christ has taken care of sin and in doing so, He has brought for us the nature of God which is righteousness and the prince of this world which is the devil is judged. On these three foundation lies our victory as Christians. If you are able to understand these foundational doctrines, you will always have victory as a Christian and you will always be successful.

It is not a man’s sin that takes him to hell, there is only one sin that takes a man to hell and that is not accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour and that is what He is telling us in the scriptures above; “Of sin, because they believe not on me” John 16:9. The sin that takes humanity to hell is not stealing, lying, adultery or fornication, it is rejecting Jesus the Son of God who was given to us by God for the propitiation for our sins. Which means if you reject Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, your sin remains upon you and you have to pay for it yourself. Jesus Christ payed for our sins by taking it upon himself and suffering all the pains and going to hell for us that we may not have to suffer and pay the penalty for our sin. Rejecting Jesus means you have to suffer and pay for your sins by yourself, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23. Once you reject Jesus, you have rejected eternal life, there you have to be punished for your sin.

You must come to understand that once you have received Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you are no longer a sinner, the nature of sin is destroyed over you. The nature of sin in our spirit is what makes us to sin and once you receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, the nature of sin that was in your spirit which is the power of sin is annulled and destroyed; the nature of God comes into you. Someone may l ask, If the new nature was put in me, why do I still sin? The reason we still sin is because our minds has been programmed by the former nature of sin that was in us. That nature of sin has taught our minds that sin is part of our lives and once that nature is removed and a new nature that is the nature of God comes in; our minds because it is not renewed still wants to act like it used to. It is not your new nature committing sin, it is your mind that is propelling you to do what you used to do because it has been programmed that way by the old nature of sin. What you need to do now is to renew your mind (Romans 12:2), so that you begin to think, talk and act like the new nature which is in your spirit. If you don’t renew your mind, you’ll continue to think and act like an unbeliever. If a Christian does not renew his mind, he will continue to act and function like an unbeliever, that is what scripture calls carnal. But you must come to understand that because you are carnal and still live in sin does not mean that you are not a child of God. You are still a child of God, it is just that there is a misplaced priority and because you have refused to renew your mind, the devil takes advantage of it and begins to rule your life. Sin and your short comings does not make you more or less a child of God it is what Christ has done.

There are two aspects that makes you a Child of the living God. In the book of John 1:12 the bible says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” When you were given birth to, you were born of blood but the new birth is not of blood nor is it the will of man. This is a spiritual birth that has to do with God sending His word into you. 1st Peter 1:23 says, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” You are born of the word, when you heard and received the gospel of salvation into you, the word entered into you and destroyed the nature of sin which is the old man and recreated in you a new man in Christ and you became a believer. You may not feel it in your body but it happened in your spirit and the spirit is the real you. The moment you begin to renew your mind and believe and act based on the new man inside of you, all the blessings in your spirit starts coming out, affecting both your mind and your body. But if you don’t renew your mind, it will never affect your mind and your body, you will still be sickly and the blessings will not come. It is when you renew your mind to agree with the new nature that is in your spirit that the things in your spirit start moving through your soul to affect your physical lifestyle. In James 1:18 the bible says, “Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.” God gave birth to you using His word called sperma, now you are a child of God, by accepting His word old thing are passed away, you are no longer a sinner, hell is not meant for you, you are completely separated from hell; now heaven belongs to you.

There are two ways a child can be introduced into a family, either biologically or through adoption. For you to be a complete member of the family of God, He had to use these two ways to introduce you into the family of God. God gave birth to you using His word, you can now say that you are the biological child of God. His name has become your name, He is your Father. Whatever He owns you own, you own. His life has become your life because you are His child. 1st John 3:1, “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God...” There is a connection of love flowing from God to us because we are His children. You are a child of God and He loves you. Therefore, you must come to realize that your sins are already dealt with, you are no longer a sinner but a child of God. It must sink into you if you want to win in life because one of the deceptions the devil uses against you is condemnation. Your sonship has nothing to do with whatever you did before, God loves you irrespective of what you have done, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?” – Romans 8:35. The other way is through adoption, Romans 8:15 says, “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” There are differences in both methods of introduction, in the biological method, you have no power to choose what comes to you but in the adoption method, you have the power to choose what you want as a family. God used both methods, He first searched for you, singled you out and adopted you, then He put His word in you and gave birth to you which make you a child of God. You fit into this two categories, you are a child in the family born by the word of God which makes you a full fledged member of the family and you were adopted in the beloved.

Upon this premise lies our faith, because of this God’s love for you is perfect and therefore you must understand and work in this perfect love. If you don’t understand this perfect love God has for you, you will work in condemnation and the devil will take advantage of you. 1st John 4:18, “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” There is no fear in love, if you are still afraid of death, sickness, poverty or anything at all, you don’t understand yet the perfect love God has for you. If you do undertand that God loves you unto infinitely, unto perfection, you will understand that whatsoever you love, you take care for. If God loves you with a perfect love, He is bound by covenant to take care of you. He calls this love an everlasting love which means that the Love He has for you cannot be infringed upon by anything, not even by your attitude or character or actions. God bless you
