A BELIEVERS WEAPON

Hello beloved, you are welcome to the month of May in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I believe you are increasing in the knowledge of God. I will like to share with you on what I titled “A BELIEVERS WEAPON.”

2nd Corinthians 10:3 says, “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)” When we say something is mighty, it means that thing is powerful. It means that it has the ability to displace and to create changes. The Bible is telling us that we have a weapon that is not physical, it is not carnal but it is mighty and dynamic. It has the ability to displace and to create changes that you want in your life or in the situation that confronts you. I want you to realize that on earth where we live, we have powers, principalities and unseen forces that militates against us; fighting against us everyday and desiring and wanting us not to be the men and women that God wants us to be. There are several persons in the world that doesn’t know this; and for those who have been told, they don’t believe it. There are Satanic forces acting against every human being, the Bible calls the head of that force the prince of the power of the air. They attack from every side but thank God we have superior weapons. The above scripture is telling us that we have a superior and much more dynamic; result oriented and powerful weapon than the weapons and the powers of the enemy.

The question you need to ask yourself is this, is it enough to have a weapon? The answer is no. It is possible for somebody to have weapons and may not know how to put the weapons to work. Having the weapon is not the ultimate goal but how does this weapon work? How do I use them? How can this weapon be of an advantage in my life? What are these weapons? Many people know that they have weapons but several persons do not know the weapons that they have neither do they know how to make them work to their advantage. The man who doesn’t have any weapon is not different from the man who has weapons but does not know how to use them. They are both one and the same. Jesus said, “You shall know the truth and the truth that you know shall make you free.” – John 8:32. So, it is not having the truth but knowing the truth and putting it to work that sets you free. “...For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God...” – 2nd Corinthians 10:3. The weapons are mighty through God, not through the flesh which means that if they are not weapons given to us by God, it cannot be mighty and it cannot be successful against our foes and enemies. It has to be weapons given to us by God and not weapons that we have in the flesh. There are so many people who like to act in the flesh, just to get by with it; who like to fight back whenever they are hurt. Who like to do things just to ensure that they win in the flesh. Such weapons are not from God, so it won’t work. It is only the weapon given to us by God that prevails. We need to know what the weapons are and how to use them to our advantage.

In the book of Philippians 2:3-4 the Bible says, “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.” You have to esteem others better than yourself. In others words, prefer others to yourself. Always have a mindset that whatever you are good at, you are not the best. Though you may be told that you are the best, always think others better than you. That is what is called humility. When you begin to look at yourself as the best and the person who is at the top of the pack because you think you are better morally, intellectually and in other standards that you set by yourself, scripture says you are no longer playing by the rules because you are not putting others first. You are abiding in vain glory because that glory is from hell. Put others first before yourself. Let your life please others first before pleasing yourself, that is what is called Christ and that is what is called humility. This scripture is telling us to be like Jesus, to be humble; that does not mean that you are imbibing low self esteem but putting others first which is love. It should not always be about you, He said that is the attitude of Satan. Satan is always about himself, never putting others first but Christ is always about others before Himself.

Look at the attitude of Christ in Philippians 2:5, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God. But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.” Even though He was God, he refused to equate Himself with God. How do you feel when you are not given your place, recognized or honoured? Do you become bitter or angry? If you do, that is not the Spirit of Christ. Whatever position that you are given, take it and be happy. Jesus left the place of His glory and became a man and yet He was God. God is telling us to imbibe His mindset, to be like Jesus. No matter how blessed or rich you may be humble yourself. Don’t allow your prosperity to get into your head. Don’t let your promotion change your lifestyle be humble like Jesus.

In verse 8 of Philippians 2 the bible says, “And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” The death of the cross means to die by crucifixion and any man who dies by crucifixion in those days is termed a criminal. Such a person is cursed and whatsoever he has, be it family are all cursed. That is why the Bible made us to understand in Galatians 3:13 that Christ was made a curse for us. If Jesus was to die, He would have died a death of honour and glory but instead, He died a violent and humiliating death. He humbled Himself and He became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name. That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Why was He highly exalted? Because of humility.

The weapons of our warfare are not carnal and one of the weapons is the name of Jesus. And the name of Jesus is highly exalted; exalted over every situations, over every problems. Now, we are of one family, we belong to the family of Jesus. We have one name and that name belongs to us which is Jesus. Peter said, “Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.’ ... immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.” Acts 3:6-7; and Jesus said in the book of John 14:13, “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” Have you been making demands in the name of Jesus? Every situation must bow to the name of Jesus, whether in heaven, on earth or even under the earth. Is the name of Jesus found in your mouth?

Have you used the name of Jesus and it seems like it didn’t work? There are resisting forces of darkness that militates against the power of God; that is why you must persist in prayers for things to work for you. If you don’t persist, it won’t work. On earth, there are metals and every metal has their melting point. So also are demonic forces, they have different levels and categories, that is why you must persist; if you do, you will win. Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” There are different categories but one thing is certain, the name of Jesus is above them all if you will persist. And in verse 13 of Ephesians 6 he says, “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” You are in possession of weapons and these weapons are not carnal but mighty through God. You must understand that God is in you and you are stronger than anything the devil throws your way. And one of the weapons in your possession that can put the devil under your feet is the name of Jesus. That is why God says to you to use that name in Colossians 3:17, “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” The name of Jesus must be in your mouth every time. Is there anything that confronts you, is there any challenge you are facing? Do all in the name of Jesus because the name of Jesus is the only name that guarantees your freedom and victory.

God bless you.
