IT'S NOT WORTH IT: MIND YOUR TONGUE

Hello beloved, I welcome you into this glorious month of May in the name of the Lord. May you increase in the knowledge and wisdom of God in Jesus name. This month I will be admonishing you on what I titled “MIND YOUR TONGUE.”

The words that we speak, are they life or death? Do they give us hope or discouragement? Since we are held responsible for every word we speak. I think we had better listen carefully to what we are saying. The lives of many Christians are going in a particular direction which is unpleasant and not beneficial, yet they have refused to listen carefully to the direction in which their words go. The Bible says in Proverbs 18:21, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. So wat do we love; life or death? What are we eating, and what are we living on? Is it life or death? Proverbs 18:20 says, “A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruiot of his mouth; and with increase of his life shall he be filled.” Is your belly satisfied and filled with life which is Christ, or are you filled with the manna of death, which is an enemy.

Words are powerful and words wrongly used can be hurtful. A lot is at stake in what we say today. People die because of something said. Our tongue can be a weapon of mass destruction if used negatively. Tongues can be the death of marriages, finances, families, friendships, churches etc. But people also live because of something said. The tongue the bible says is “a tree of life” (Proverbs 15:4). Your tongue can make your marriage sweet, families strong, health and finances better. So what will come out of your mouth today, death or life? The Bible says, “there is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword. But the tongue of the wise is health.” (Proverbs 12:18).

All evil come forth from the heart and proceeds out of the mouth. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? (Jeremiah 17:9). “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” (Matthew 12:34). “But these things which proceed out of the mouth comes forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thought; murders, adulteries, fornications, theft, false witness, blasphemies.” (Matthew 15:18-19). We need the circumcision that is of the heart, by the Spirit (Romans 2:29), then the evil that come out of our hearts will cease.

Christians wants to change what comes out from their mouths but they don’t consider what goes into their hearts. You cannot speak life when you continuously absorb death. It takes life to speak life. It takes Jesus to speak life. the Bible says in James 3:6-9, “And the tongues is a fire, a world of iniquity; so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and seteth on fire of hell. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, fall of deadly poison.” Listen beloved, the tongue can no man tame (control) by himself, it only takes God in a man to tame the tongue. It takes Jesus, the word of God to come into you and renew your mind, to correct your words and cause you to speak his word, which is life. The Bible says in 2nd Corinthians 3:5 that, “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; bur our sufficiency is of God." You cannot do it all by yourself, you need the quickening of the Spirit, you need the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2). You need the word of God, you need Jesus in you.

Know this, your life and all that pertains to you are controlled by your words, therefore refuse to speak negatively about yourself. Many think is fashionable to do so. They pick lots of negative communication from their environments, workplace, neighbourhood etc. and take them home and cause harm to their lives and everything around them. I say to you beloved, only speak life to your body, your environment, family, finances and to your world and the light of God will break forth in your life in Jesus name.
