FOOD FOR TEENS: CAUSE AND EFFECT

Do you know that for every action under the surface of the earth there is a cause? Ecclesiastes 11:3a, “If the clouds be full of rain, they shall empty themselves upon the earth.” So the rains will never come down until the clouds are full of rain, then they empty themselves. Even so; for anything to happen, certain law or laws has to be fulfilled for everything that you see on the earth, this is what we call “science”.

There are some things that we need to know about science that are very interesting and they are:

1. They are practical
2. They are specific
3. They have been proven to work over and over, if all the steps are followed correctly
4. They are result oriented

These and so many more are some of the reason why science has succeeded to be very effective in today’s society

Before we continue I would like to state this fact, which is; “all knowledge and wisdom originated from God”, He gave man wisdom to apply this simple principle of cause and effect which has allowed scientists to develop the world at a pace that could not have been dreamt of even a hundred years ago.

The same way we have laws of cause and effects in the physical realm, even so we have the same laws in the realm of the spirit. As young believers you cannot succeed if you don’t understand this law. 1st Corinthians 9:26, “I therefore so run, not as uncertainly, so fight I, not as one that beateth the air.” What Apostle Paul was saying was that, for every problem I face as a believer there is a cause but I don’t fight as one that beateth the air, that is, I am not fighting something I have no knowledge of. For example a man who is been beaten by a ghost, when he tries to fight back he will only beat the air because he’s fighting something he can’t see in the first place. Therefore, you find that person throwing punches into thin air, which is actually just a guess work, hoping to aim a punch at the ghost. Do you think he will be able to defeat the ghost? The definite answer to that question is NO!! Every problem a man faces is spiritual and like that ghost.

So why then do a lot of Christians take on issues as though they are fighting a ghost? This why a lot of Christians jump from one place to another looking for solutions. One man tells him to fast for one week, another tells him to use anointing oil, another one to buy one thing or the other, and you see this believer been deceived because he is trying to solve his problem hoping that one of them will be able to solve his/her problem. Like scientists, to solve your problems as a believer follow the following practical steps.

1. Identify the problem and its root cause: Every trial a believer goes through has its root cause in the spirit, but a carnal man most time will not be able to discover that problem and without that he or she will “beat on thin air”, playing the guessing game on real life problems which will lead to more problems and failure.

There are two major methods through which believers can access the spirit and discover spiritual wisdom and insight into problems.

a. Through prayer and fellowship with God; As you pray especially in tongues, which is praying in the spirit, you get to an extent in your prayers your physical mind becomes quiet and your spirit begins to pick up signals from heaven on what the problem is and the root cause.

b. Another way through which insights to identify problems and their causes is through the study and meditation of God’s word, as you do this you begin to understand the mind of God concerning situations and identify causes and effects in our lives.

When problems and their causes have been identified through the help of the spirit, what next?

2. Then look for practical solution: The key word here is practical solution. A lot of times Christians are faced with situations they begin to expect people to help them solve their problems without their input. We know from scriptures that one of the surest places to find solution is in the word of God. John 5:3a, “Search the scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” 2nd Peter 1:4, “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

When you go through God’s word thoroughly, you are bound to find the wisdom to solve any problem by the help of the Holy Spirit. Another sure way to get solutions to problems is through prayers, as you pray, always be aware that you are speaking to a father that hears you and prayer is not a monologue but a dialogue, that is when you make request through prayers, spend some time listening for instructions from God.

For instance a child goes to his father and says dad I need allowance for this month, that child waits for instructions on how to get the money, the father could tell him to go meet his mother or give him a cheque to go to the bank or direct transfer to the child’s account, whichever he chooses, the young man must listen for instruction with which he will go and get the money. It is this instruction in our place of prayer that we fight the good fight of faith as believers.

3. Thirdly they experiment; they practicalise that which they discovered during their quest for solution.

Like the young man we described earlier, he must put the instructions given by his father to work before he can get his money which is why James 1:22 talks about those that do the word and not hear only. In verse 25, He tells us that it is the man that do that is blessed, even if your father writes a cheque of twenty million, if you don’t cash it, you are still broke.

As believers always take the practical steps given in God’s word to solve your problems and you will see your life going from one level of glory to another in Jesus name.

God bless you and see you next month.
