IT'S NOT WORTH IT:THERE ARE CONSEQUENCES

Dearly beloved, I welcome you in the name of the Lord to this wonderful month of October. May you walk in God’s desired plan for your life this month in Jesus name. This month I will be sharing with you on what I titled, “THERE ARE CONSEQUENCES.”

The book of Isaiah 1:28 says, “And the destruction of the transgressor and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the Lord shall be consumed.” There is no blessing in walking in disobedience. Disobedience will cost you greatly. The smartest thing to do in life is to obey God promptly. All the suffering humanity is suffering today and that of generations past, are all as a result of one man’s disobedience . One disobedience from Adam plunged the whole world into darkness and total chaos/ Little did Adam know the impact of his disobedience.

From our opening scripture, we are told that the destruction of sinners and transgressors shall be together. The word sinner implies those who are not born again; while the word transgressor are those who even though are born again; are walking against the word of God. What God is saying is that though they are born again, if they walk in disobedience they will suffer the same fate as sinners. These are folks who ignore divine instructions in the house of God. These are folks who wants to challenge every instructions given in the church. These are folks who will not do what God prompts them to do. Your obedience to God’s instructions not only blesses you, but others as well. In the same manner, your disobedience does not affect you alone but others too.

The New Living Translation of Psalm 106:14-15 says, “In the wilderness, their desire ran wild, testing God’s patience in that dry wasteland. So he gave them what they asked for, but he sent a plague along with it.” God has given us all the rules we need for living. The Bible is the manual for life. In it we find all the laws God established for living a happy, healthy and holy life. When we follow God’s plan, things work out well. But any time we forget God and ignore His word, things start to fall apart in our lives. Physically, emotionally, financially, spiritually and in every other way. In such scenario in Psalm 106:14-15, if we say to God, “I want to do what I want to do when I want to do it,” Sometimes, He will give you what you want but there are often unwanted consequences to getting everything you want. When you ignore the healthy principles God teaches in His word, you are telling Him you think you know better. But disobedience always has consequences. Sometimes big and sometimes small.

Beloved, always bear this in mind, your disobedience does not only affect you but others. When Achan took of the accursed things, he was killed together with his innocent family (Joshua 7). Make no mistake about it; the destinies of many are tied to your obedience. Even though Christ’s work on the cross took care of all your sins and there is therefore now no condemnation for you (Romans 8:1). If you walk in disobedience, you will suffer greatly. You will be greatly hindered. You must know that for every action of yours there are consequences, whether good or bad. There is no action or utterance that has no consequence.

When we yield ourselves to disobedience to God’s instructions, it has the potential to stop the fulfillment of God’s promises in our lives. The plan for Moses was that he would lead Israel into the promised land, but because he disobeyed God’s command and dishonoured God in the presence of Israel, this plan was changed. Numbers 20:12 says, “And The LORD spake unto Moses, and Aaron. Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which i have given them.”Apostle Paul said in the book of first Corinthians 9:25-27, “And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we are incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air; But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: Lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a cast away.”

Beloved, Christianity is a life of Self control. Make up your mind to yield your Spirit, soul and body in total obedience to God. Make up your mind today to obey God no matter what the cost may be; it is worth it. It always pays to obey God. God bless you. See you next month.
