FOOD FOR TEENS: GRAFTING

The concept of grafting was how Jesus saved us on the cross, it is a very complex process but it is one of the best ways to save a dying plant or tree or body part. Apostle Paul explained this concept in Romans 11:17, “And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;” for us to really understand this, let’s define grafting.

Grafting is a technique that joins two plants into one. In general, a wound is created on one of the plants, and the other is inserted into that. This was how we were joined together with Christ Jesus, and according to the above definition, a wound has to be created in one of the plants, that’s why the cross where Jesus was wounded, is the point of contact of our salvation. So, as many who have believed and have accepted Jesus as their Lord and savior has been grafted into Jesus Christ and he or she ought to bear fruits that are befitting of Jesus. But herein lies the problem, a lot of us have believed the gospel of salvation from sin through the work of Jesus on the cross and have been saved but that’s where it ends, what about your finance? Your health? Your relationships? Your academics? Your character? Have you believed in Jesus so that you may bear His fruits in these areas also?

Jesus Christ explained this concept better in John 15:1-2, “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.” It is through grafting that we become productive in the kingdom, and Jesus explains further in verse 4; John 15:4, “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.” To abide in Jesus simply means to stay with His Word, that’s why in verse 7 Jesus said “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” We already know Jesus is the living Word, so when you keep the word in your heart, it begins to work in your life, no wonder James 1:21b tells us to “receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.”

It describes the Word as Engrafted Word, which means implanted Word, it is only effective when it is in a person’s heart, just like a seed is not effective on the surface of the earth but when it planted inside the ground it begins to germinate, even so the word of God must be implanted into your heart for you to get any result. I know you wonder why you can’t seem to get your desired result in your health, finance and other aspects of your life, it is simply because when it comes to these areas of your life, you haven’t grafted the word in you, this is the real labour, to abide in Jesus until His Word abide in you. Do you know that in tree grafting, the good tree passes its life/cells into the branch that has been grafted into it as long as the branch remains fastened or connected to the tree. This is exactly what happens when we speak and meditate God’s word consistently for a long period of time, the life of Jesus in His Word begins to enter into us in those aspects that we need Him to manifest and we begin to function and think in a way that brings the blessing, no wonder Hebrews 4:12 tells us that, “the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Quick means alive, it is the living word, There are cells/life in the word of God, if you abide in Him, that is make sure you fasten yourself to it, that life enters into you, it goes into you wherever it is needed, if you need it in your health, it goes into your joints and marrows and begins to produce new life in you just like the way Engraftment works; According to an article on google: “Engraftment is when transplanted stem cells enter the blood, make their way to the bone marrow and start making new blood cells. It usually takes about 2 to 6 weeks to start seeing a steady return to normal blood cell counts.” This is the secret of Christianity, no wonder Psalm 1:2-3, “But his delight is in the law of the Lord ; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” The word of God is alive and powerful, those who delight in them shall be fruitful,
God bless you and have a blissful month in Jesus name.
