Food For Teens: ASK, SEEK, KNOCK

Welcome to 2020, a year of God’s abundance and supernatural favour. Do you know that God has a lot in store for you this year? I know you will say a big yes but have you bothered to talk to Him about it? You need to ask of Him because He always answers. The problem with our request most of the time is that we ask amiss, therefore we don’t always receive that thing that we desire from God. In this edition of the food for teens I would like to explain the perfect steps to asking from God so that you can receive your desire. There are three steps to asking anything from God according to Matthew 7:7, “Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek ans ye shall find; Knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” They are: Ask, seek and knock.

1. Ask: Philippians 4:6 tells us, “Be careful for nothing: but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God.” Asking is the first step in prayers and it consists of three important components and they are:
Prayer: This the process of taking scriptures pertaining to your request and bringing them before God, reminding Him of what His will concerning a particular situation is according to His word. 1st John 5:14 tells us that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” So most importantly we must use scriptures in worshiping Him.
Supplication: Now, based on the scriptures used in the above, you make your specific supplication, your specific desire unto the Lord.
Thanksgiving: Immediately after supplication is made, you begin to give Him thanks because He has heard you because you have prayed according to His will. Thank Him for what you have received (answers) in the realm of the spirit. 1st John 5:15, “And if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desire of Him.” The mistake most people make is that they stop at this point, they think this is where it ends but no, it doesn’t stop here.

2. Seek: Let me make this analogy, For instance my earthly father lives in a far country like the USA and I called and told him I needed money, after making my request I need to wait to receive instructions from Him through which medium he would get the money across to me, I don’t just drop the phone and expect the money to land on my lap, if he needs to use a money transfer agent, he needs to give me the name and the code, without which I cannot access the money even though he has already sent it. It will continue to hang on the air until I get the code. So is seeking God to hear His voice concerning what we have asked. We do not go into His presence to make fresh requests but we go in to give Him thanks for what He has given and wait through prayers for His instructions and manifestation. 1st Corinthians 2:9,10 & 12, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit: For the Spirit searcheth all things, yea the deep things of God. Now we have received, not the Spirit of the world but the Spirit which is of God that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.” If you don’t spend time praying in the Spirit as you seek to know His mind concerning your request you will never know those things that are freely given to you of God. You might think you know but the faith and conviction that comes from staying and waiting in His presence will not be there.
The major way of seeking God is simply praying in the Holy Ghost - Jude 1:20, “But ye beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.” The numerous growth and benefits that occurs during this process of prayer is the key and its God’s purpose for prayer. This is where fellowship with the Father, the Son and The Holy Spirit is built; no man goes through this and comes out the same. It is what you receive during this point of prayer that you know is tangible proof of your request granted

3. Knock: After your father has given you the code to access the money he sent, the next step is for you to go to the bank and cash in on what he has given you. This is where you now demonstrate what you received during your time with God, the walk of faith is revealed. As soon as Elijah saw what God wanted him to do in the place of prayers, he ran faster than the chariots. Now you knock until you get what God has given you in your time of seeking His face. You don’t give up. You knock until the door is opened because you know of whom you have received.

God bless you and have a glorious 2020. See you next month.
