FOOD FOR TEENS: THE SPIRIT OF THE WORD

One of the biggest mistakes we make as believers is to think that the word of God can work in isolation, and we also maybe subconsciously believe that prayer works outside the word but the truth is both the word of God and the Spirit of God released in the place of prayer must always work together to produce result. Genesis 1:2-3, "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light." The first thing that happened before God spoke was that the Spirit of God moved. Even Jesus Christ, the living Word of God did not start is earthly ministry until He was baptized with the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of the Word of God, it is the power behind the Word of God. Remember that scripture confirms that the word of God was written by the Holy Ghost through men. 2nd Peter 1:21, "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."

So brethren, don't ever take the Word of God in isolation, remember scripture tells us that. 2nd Peter 1:20, “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.” Always lean on the Holy Ghost to help you understand what is written therein, do not try to naturally discern the things written in the Word of God. 1st Corinthians 2:9-10, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God." Jesus Christ made a parable about the 10 virgins, the lamp they had represents God's Word. Remember Psalm 119:105, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." The oil in the parable represents the Holy Ghost. Remember 1st Samuel 16:13, "Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah."

It was recorded in scripture that the five virgins that didn't have extra oil in their lamps were regarded as foolish even though they had the lamp. We must be careful not to look through the lens of God's word with our limited level of understanding because we would end up like the Pharisees, they were teachers of the Word of God, studied it all their lives expecting the messiah but when the Jesus appeared before them they knew Him not because they didn't have the Holy Ghost to guide them into all truth, but as soon as Jesus stood before John the Baptist, he bore witness immediately by saying "behold the lamb that taketh away the sin of the world." Jesus had this to say concerning the Pharisees; John 5:37-40, "And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not. Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life."

These people searched the scriptures but when Jesus appeared before them they couldn't tell because they completely neglected the spirit behind the Word. One of the first nursery rhyme you learn says "Read your Bible, pray everyday if you want to grow" In 2022 make up your mind to do just that so that successfully navigate through life as God has planned for you.

God bless you and have a wonderful 2022.
