FOOD FOR TEENS: TRUE WORSHIPPERS

Hello beloved teens, I bring you greeting in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I know that you are increasing in the knowledge of God’s word. I will be admonishing you on the message I titled ‘True Worshippers.’

The bible says in the book of John 4:23, "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him." According to Jesus Christ the Father seeks only true worshippers to worship Him, the big question we must ask ourselves and seek to get answer to is "who are the true worshippers?"

In verse 20-22 of John 4, the woman by the well told Jesus that their fathers worshipped in mountains but Jesus spoke of a new set of believers whose service to God will move from mountains, that is from the realm of the physical to the realm of the Spirit which is the heart. When Jesus said worship God in spirit and in Truth He wasn't talking about just worshipping God in church during worship sessions,  He was talking about living a manner of life that continuously brings praises to the Father, no wonder in Romans 12:1 Amplified version says, "I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.” You see? Spiritual worship, that's what Jesus was talking about and according to this scripture, we present all our bodies as a living sacrifice unto the Lord.

Apostle Paul also reiterated this point in 1st Corinthians 9:27, “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” This is what it means to present your body as a living sacrifice, by placing it under the subjection of your spirit which is under the subjection of the Spirit of God. Beautiful right? It's sounds like a great idea to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, to put it in subjection of God's word but the question I'd like you to ask is, how easy is it? A lot of great men and women who had been zealous for God stumbled on this particular issue, many of them have felt an overwhelming pressure in walking and worshipping God in the spirit that they gave up. The main point I would like you to note about this is that the root of this walk with God has nothing to do with the outward appearance but everything to do with the inward appearance. In all honesty when I see new believers who seem to have gotten all their acts together in such a short time, I get really careful, not because these things are impossible but because every great tree must first develop underneath the surface, which was why Jesus told the woman that this kind of worship had absolutely nothing to do with what we can see outwardly but what occurs inwardly that is why it is called spiritual worship. What appears outwardly are the fruits of your true nature inwardly. This is why Jesus detested the lifestyle of the Pharisees, because outwardly they seemed like sheep but outwardly they were wolves, He even went ahead to refer to them as dead men who are covered in nice perfumes. So if you really intend to be a true worshipper, you must first of all take your focus aways from how you appear outwardly to men and focus on how you appear inwardly before God. Once you succeed in this exercise, through consistent meditation and fellowship with the word of God and His Spirit, I guarantee you, you are halfway there.

Secondly, you must speak that which you have meditated in the scripture. Now remember the bone of contention is putting our body in subjection to our spirit like Apostle Paul, now read carefully James 3:2-3, “For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.” That scripture says we put bits in horses mouth that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body, even so for your body to ever obey you, like a horse you must put the word of God in your lips, then in verse 4 he talked about how ships are controlled by just a little object, even so only with your lips can you truly control your body, so if you always speak the right words as far as God is concerned you are already a perfect man. This is what scripture was referring to when it talked about the just living by faith. Hebrews 11:33a says, “Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness...”  These men wrought righteousness through faith. That's all you need to know. perfect righteousness can only be wrought through faith, stay in faith and you will always please God, this is what it really means to a TRUE WORSHIPPER.

God bless you and happy new year.
