PRICELESS FAITH part one

Hello dearly beloved. I welcome you to the March edition of Divine Truth. I know you have been walking in the victory of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

I will like to share with you some salient truths in the word of God. Everyone of us have to deal with our Goliath, they are there whether we like it or not. Many Christians are only interested in a merry Christianity (a Christianity without trials, without challenges). There is no merry Christianity any where in the world, as long as you are in this world, trials and troubles will come because the devil will come against you. As long as you are on this earth, you are going to face your Goliath. The are many people who have been defeated by the situations of life; it is not that life and the devil has the ability to defeat them, it is just that they failed the test of the lion and the bear and when Goliath came they ran. Scripture tells us about a tribe in Israel called Ephraim in Psalms 78:9, “The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.” The children of Ephraim were armed but when they saw the enemy, they ran. Why? “They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law.” They didn’t know about the covenant (the word of God) and how powerful it is. They were not conversant with the word, therefore they didn’t have relationship with God. They trusted in their strength and when they saw those who were mightier than them physically they ran away. They cared-less of the word and weren’t constrained by scriptures and the word of God to live their lives, so their strength failed them because they were not submissive to God.

David said who is this uncircumcised philistines that try to defile the army of the living God in 1st Samuel 17:26. He knew his covenant right and he was able to stand against Goliath not caring how tall and huge he was. He saw God bigger, mightier than Goliath and with the covenant he had with God, He saw Goliath as a dwarf compared to God. The children of Ephraim failed because they didn’t have relationship with God’s word, they never worked in the word, they forgot the works and miracles of God – (Psalms 78:9-11). They never studied or meditated the word and it didn’t make any deliberate impact in their lives. If you don’t know who you are in Christ as a Christian, Goliath will defeat you. Goliath does not come to play pranks, He comes for three things, to kill, to steal and to destroy (John 10:10). As Christians, you must know your covenant, if you don’t know your covenant, you can’t kill, you bear, your lion or your Goliath.

Whenever there is trial there is something we always do just like Moses did; we cry unto God asking and begging for help . In the book of Exodus 4:17 the bible says God told Moses, “And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.” The rod of Moses that he held in the wilderness became the rod of God, anointed and full of power, and God said take it with you. And yet in the book of Exodus 14, the bible says when he saw the Egyptians coming and the red sea he cried unto God. And God said unto him, “Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.” (Exodus 14:15-16). Beloved, there is something with you which is called the rod of God that you can use to divide the red sea and bring down your Goliath, it is called your faith. It is a gift, if you don’t use it you will be defeated.

God has not left you, He gave you something so powerful that what ever comes against you, you can bring it down by your faith. It is not the time to cry unto God, He has given you all that you need to defeat your enemy, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Luke 10:19. Jesus said in Matthew 28:18-19, “...All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore....” All power has been given to you, stop crying to Jesus and lift up your rod and divide the sea. God doesn’t make ways in the wilderness anymore, now you make way in the wilderness using your precious faith. If your faith fails, you are finished. This is what happened to the children of Ephraim, their faith failed them because they lacked the fuel that ought to propel them. What is that fuel? Relationship with God that builds faith. If you have no relationship with God’s word, you have no faith; though it is in you, it can’t work. It is like a vehicle that has no fuel, it has nothing to offer you in the day of trouble.

In Ephesians 2:8-9 the bible says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Faith is a gift, you don’t need to work for it. If you are a Christian you have faith; You can’t be a Christian without faith. So that power to transform your life, to make your weakness become strength is faith and it is in you. The challenge is that many people do not acknowledge and use it. Romans 12:3 says, “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” As we come to Christendom we have the same level of faith, it is your responsibility to put it to work and make it grow. Your faith is what transforms you from who you are today to what God wants you to be tomorrow. If you can put it to work, though you were small, you’ll become great. 1st John 5:4 tells us, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” Victory means overcoming force and power, the power to be successful against all odds.

God bless you.
