LAUGHING IN TIME OF FAMINE part one

Hello beloved, you are welcome to the month of June. I thank the Lord for you. For the manifestation of His word and power in your life. May you abound more and more in His grace and revelation in the name of Jesus.

Beloved, the word of God is the custodian of all wisdom, it teaches us what to do at every point in time. When you have a challenge or situation confronting you, what you do is to ask yourself a question, was there any one in the Bible with such a situation and how did he or she overcome? If there is, go to that part of the Bible, study it carefully and understand how the person was able to overcome. What was it the person did that gave the person the leverage and opportunity for success. Romans 15:4 says, “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” In other words, if the person was delivered and was victorious by trusting in God, it means that you will have the same victory in as much as you do as the person has done. Find out what the Bible has to say about your victory concerning that situation. Once you find out, you meditate it and begin to engage it. The book Ecclesiastes 1:9 says that there is nothing new under the sun, there is nothing happening on earth right now, that hasn’t happened before. Scriptures tell us that, “there is no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. – 1st Corinthians 10:13. Whatever you are going through, somebody already overcame and you must find out how the person was able to do it. You must find out what scripture is saying about that situation you are facing so that you will be able to engage it.

The Bible calls God often time the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And if you look at the lives of these three men, you’ll find out that they were confronted a perculair situation in their life time; which is scarcity or famine. There was a time in their lives that things became tough financially, there was not enough food. Everyone of them was able to beat the situation, then you ask yourself, how did they overcome? Because scripture tells us that we are the children of Abraham which means if it happened to them, it is going to happen to us. There is going to be a time in your life when things are going to look difficult whether you like it or not. But the good thing is this, before anything happens to you, God is already aware of it. And He prepares you ahead of time and tells you what to do. The Lord has said ‘This is the time to give,’ Some people think that when things are not okay financially, that is the time to hoard, you will miss it in your life. God’s ways are so different from the ways of man that if you don’t understand and follow his way, you will miss it totally.

Look at the book of 1st Corinthians 1:18 so that we understand God’s perspective concerning how He functions, “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?” When God functions many of us look at it in the light of worldly wisdom and count it as foolishness. How can you ask someone who doesn’t have enough to take care of his needs to give. In light of the worldly wisdom that is foolish and that is the time to hoard but in God’s perspective that is the time to give.

You have to ask yourself, what was it Isaac did in the days of famine? The first thing that came to his mind was to travel abroad, which is still happening today. Whenever anything happens we forget God first just like Isaac did. The thought in the forefront of our mind is how are others succeeding during this time? Isaac first thought was to travel abroad, he wasn’t interested in asking God what to do. What did he do? Genesis 26:1-2 says, “And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar. And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of. Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee...” Isaac did what God told him to do and God blessed him. Genesis 26:12-14 the bible says, “Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: For he had possession of flocks, and possessions of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.” Our success is in the obedience of God’s word. What is God telling you to do specifically? You cannot thrive in all places, you can not thrive in all jobs or business. There are places that are not good for you and you cannot thrive there no matter what you do. He knows what or where is good for you, He created you. He knows the season and He knows what He has put in every seed. He designates the type of soil that will make every seed to thrive. There are specific soil types for different kinds of seeds. People are suffering because they insist on doing it their own way; no matter the effort you put in, it will end in futility. So many people are not where God has planted them. The Lord told Elijah in 1st Kings 17:4 thus, “And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.” Imagine if Elijah was else where, he would not have received the blessing. There are people who are not in their brook, they are else where waiting for the raven. When the brook dried up, God instructed him again to go to the woman of Zarephath, He went and He was blessed. What would happen, if he had not gone, nothing will happen and no blessing will come to him.

Continues next month.
