THE LORDS NEEDS YOU (part two)

One day Jesus went to the sea side and He saw certain fishermen, men that were not qualified, common men trying to look for a means of sustenance but He said unto them in the book of Matthew 4:19 thus, “...Follow me, and I wll make you fishers of men.” There may be things that you are involved in but when you become a repairer of the bridge and start repairing the lives of people, your life becomes mighty and great because Jesus has come into your life. One of such men is Peter, he was uneducated. A man of anger who can’t keep his mouth shut but when Jesus Christ got a hold of him, his life changed. He preached the gospel and in one day three thousand people received Jesus Christ. This was a man who was afraid when Jesus mounted him and he became a great man. The Bible says in the book of Acts 10:25 that Cornelius a centurion, a very high ranking man in the Roman army saw Peter; (a man who was uneducated, a man without any influence) and bowed down and worshipped him, why? Because Jesus came into him and mounted him. “And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.” Cornelius wasn’t worshipping Peter but who Peter carried, that is the Lord Jesus. Peter replied in Acts 10:26, “But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.” You may be a man but when you carry Jesus, you become more than a man. That is why we talk the way we talk and preach the way we preach because we have seen Jesus. Because we know and carry Him, and whatever happens life is going to get better and better like a shining light that shines brighter and brighter unto a perfect day. Not because of us but because we know we carry the repairer of the bridge Jesus Christ. When you allow Jesus in you, people recognize you even those who did not care about you begin to appreciate you, it may not happen overnight but if you keep carrying him, it will happen.

No man that has ever be called for the purpose of the gospel ever remains the same. You must be great and mighty. Not because of you but because of whom you carry. When you carry Jesus and have the message of the gospel, you don’t stand before mere men, you stand before kings because you carry the creator inside of you. Our problem is rebellion, resisting the man who chose to use us. If you will be submissive today and allow God use you, those who turned their back on you will look for you. Even John the Baptist who resided in the desert was sort after because of whom he carried. He didn’t live in Jerusalem (the city), he lived by the river Jordan in the desert, yet they looked for him because of his purpose. What was the purpose? The purpose was to preach Jesus. Do you know that we have the same purpose today? The Bible says in the book of John 1:6-8, “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that light, but was sent to bear witness of the light.” This is your purpose today, It is what we must live for if we want to attract the blessing. John has fulfilled his purpose but God is waiting to use you. Just like he called John, He is calling you now. We have come to bear witness of the light that is Jesus; that is what we are living for. The onus is resting on us today. Inasmuch as you continue to bear witness of that light, men will continue to honour you because you honour Him. We have come to bear witness of Jesus that is what we are called for. That is why Jesus must mount you. The same men, Peter and John that were looked upon as nothing, when Jesus began to mount them and they began to spend time with Jesus in the book of Acts 4:13, “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” When you allow Jesus to mount you today, the impossible becomes possible through Christ that strengthens you. Are you ready to allow Jesus to use you today, if you are that person, you are ready for greatness.

In the book of 2nd Samuel 9:1 the Bible says, “And David said, is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan’s sake.” This Jonathan represents Jesus. The Lord is blessing you and turning your life around for the sake of Jesus. Jonathan had a son whose name was Mephibosheth, he was to be the heir apparent to the throne, if the father died. But Jonathan was killed in battle and immediately the nurse of the child heard of Jonathans death took the child and ran knowing that the acting king would like to kill him. While she running in 2nd Samuel 4:4 the baby fell of her hands and broke his legs becoming crippled in the process. And she took the baby and hid him in a village called Lodebar. Only few people knew about him. Mephibosheth means shame, though he was born into the lineage of a king but he was crippled. You might be a Christian but you know there are certain areas of your life that are not working, you are crippled some how, you are like Mephibosheth. He was taken to Lodebar; Lodebar means a place of no pasture, a place of scarcity. He was languishing there. But one day the king remember to help somebody, then they remembered Jonathan who had been good to the king. Then they sought after his lineage for someone to bless. They remember Mephibosheth in 2nd Samuel 9:7, “And David said unto him, fear not: for surely I will shew thee kindness for Jonathan they father’s sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father, and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.” You have come to the palace from the village, from Lodebar to Jerusalem, now you are sitting with kings. This is what the Lord is doing in your life now because the favour of the Lord has come to you.

You might say, I have been a Christian for many years and I have been going to Church. It is not about going to Church, it about a relationship. Do you have relationship with Jesus, does He know you. The Bible says in the book of Luke 10:17 when the seventy returned, they had this to says, “And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.” Jesus replied them in verse 20 saying, “Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.” Is your name written in heaven, are you sure Jesus knows you? Are you sure you have a relationship with Him? You might claim you know Him but the Bible told us in the book of Matthew 7, that there were those that claimed that they knew Him; they even cast out devils in His name and did great miracles but the Bible says on that day He said, “I know you not, you workers of iniquity.” Why? Because they did it in His name but they didn’t know the owner of the name. You may have been used by God to do some great wonders but that doesn’t mean He knows you. It is a fellowship, it is a relationship which begins like this; Matthew 11:28, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” It starts by coming to Him in total submission. What more are you supposed to do? Paul said in Philippians 3:7-8, that this you must do: To follow Jesus, you must cut off your old baggage because there are new baggage's waiting for you full of righteousness, peace, prosperity and success, “But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.” If you don’t let things go, you can’t win Christ. Until you let the old baggage go, you can’t hold on to the new baggage. There are so many things Christ has in store for you but your old lifestyle that you are still living as a Christian is cutting you away from God. After letting the old baggage go your must learn of Him, Matthew 11:29, “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest for your souls.” Now from hence forth, you must learn of Jesus, what He would want you to do. Do you know Him or do you want to know Him? That question is for you to answer.

God bless you. See you next month
