Be Led By The Spirit

The Lord met Moses at the back side of the desert and called Him through the burning bush for the sole purpose of setting His people free from the oppression of Pharaoh in Egypt. He said to Moses, that He has come down to deliver the Israelites from the hands of the Egyptians and to bring them up into a good and large land, a land that flows with milk and honey- Exodus 3:8. Moses did not know the land except God. Moses must yield to God to be led into this glorious land described by God. The children of Israel could only enter into that land when they are led by the Spirit of God.
As it was for Moses and the Israelites, so it is for us today. There is a land flowing with milk and honey for every one of God’s children, but we must be led by God’s Spirit. The Lord says in Jeremiah 29:11(NIV) thus, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” God has good plans for every one of His children but for those plans to materialize we must be ready to allow Him to lead us. The Psalmist in Psalm 23:1 says, “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want (lack).” It is only when we allow the Lord to lead us that lack becomes a thing of the past in our lives.
Scripture says in Genesis 12:1 thus, “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee.” There is a land or place of prosperity that God delight to show you. Nobody knows the place except God. Why does God love to hide or conceal things from us? Proverbs 25:2 says, “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.” Our true motives are revealed when God conceals our manifestation or glory, desiring us to keep following Him and trusting Him until He brings it to past. It takes genuine love for us to wait for Him. This love can only be tested by unfeigned patience and endurance.
Being led by the Spirit of God is a virtue every believer must practice. Just like every other virtue in the kingdom of God comes by practice, so is the leading of God’s Spirit. 1st Timothy 4:7 says, “But refuse profane and old wives fables, and exercise (train) thyself rather unto godliness.” Every virtue in Christianity works by training including being led by the Holy Spirit. For the Spirit of God to effectively and accurately lead you at all times you have to train yourself to yield to Him.
To train yourself to be led by God, you must first understand that He lives in you if you are a Christian. Unlike the Old Testament where the Holy Spirit only came upon the prophets, priests and kings from time to time. In the New Testament, the Holy Spirit is not just with us, upon us but also in us. John 14:15-17, “If you love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another comforter, that he may abide with you forever. Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither Knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” The Holy Spirit dwells in every believer in Jesus Christ. He is in you to lead, guide and teach you.
1st John 2:27, “But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you; but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is not a lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.” The anointing which is the Holy Ghost is your teacher. He teaches you all things. He teaches you how to succeed and be led by Him. John 14:26, “But the comforter which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” Several years ago, a notorious witch tried to attack me in a night vision. She tried to come into our compound invisibly to attack my parents but was seen and stopped. She tried to say some words that will trigger my anger but the Spirit of God said to me, “Son don’t let her trigger your anger, if she does the power of God in you will no longer work. Remember what the Bible says in James 1:20, “For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.” When I heard that I maintained my composure and smiled at her. When I did, God’s love flowed through in my heart and the power of God came on me and she was defeated.
Though I did not know the meaning of that scripture in James 1:20, but the Holy Spirit brought it to my remembrance and taught me its meaning. The Holy Spirit is our teacher, He will teach you how to prosper, He will teach you the way to your promise land Hallelujah!
