Food For Teens: PURPOSE DRIVEN

Greetings dearly beloved teens, welcome to this wonderful month of March. Hope you are walking in the victory Christ has given you?
‘Purpose’, what is the meaning of purpose? Purpose is that which a person sets before himself as an objective to be reached or accomplished. Everything on earth is created for a purpose; purpose is the only attribute everything and person has in common. The only person who determines the purpose of a thing is the creator of that very thing. Ephesians 1:11, “In whom also we have an inheritance being predestined according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his will.”
The mistake a lot of people make is that they try to determine their purpose in life by themselves; they don’t seek the guidance of the Holy Ghost (creator) or their pastors. Instead they choose careers because of financial gain involved which is why a lot of them have not achieved true fulfillment.
To be truly successful is to be fulfilled in life and to be fulfilled is to accomplish that work which God has prepared for you to do even before the creation of the earth. Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee, and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” You see, before Jeremiah was born, He (God) already knew him, what did God mean by ‘I knew thee’ before you were formed in your mother’s womb? He meant He already knew what Jeremiah’s purpose was before he was born. Same with you and I. God already knew our purpose right before He created us; He created us to meet specific needs here on earth. So, don’t try to live your life on your own, don’t try to define your purpose on your own, seek His counsel, and ask Him for direction.
As young people (teenagers) your teen age is your formative years, seek God early in life and let Him start leading you, this is usually the time a lot of people choose their careers, a lot of schools have guidance counselors, course advisers but what a believer truly needs is the counsel of the Holy Ghost. There are hidden abilities in you that no one knows about except your creator. Trust Him to lead you and help you bring out all that He has deposited in you.
I know someone is thinking, how do I know what God want me to become? He said in Matthew 7:7, “Ask and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” All you have to do is tell Him to reveal His plans towards you. Some of you are just about to write your senior secondary school certificate examination and you are wondering the courses to choose from, some of you are about to write your Jamb and you are wondering what courses to offer. Others are trying to decide on the handwork to learn. In Psalm 23:1, the Bible tells us that, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” In a world of uncertainty ask the Holy Ghost for direction; ask Him for His will for your life and He will truly give you direction. Contrary to popular opinion that the will of God is not always favourable, the Bible tells us that God’s plans for us are good to give us an expected end – Jeremiah 29:11. His plans for us are by far better than what we could ever wish to achieve on our own.
One of the major characteristics of God’s purpose is that it is always bigger than our own capabilities; therefore we would always need His ability and grace to fulfill it. If you are bigger than your dream, I guess that dream might not be of God. You serve a big God and He only does big things even in small ways.
Someone else is thinking, but I’m already old, I have already chosen a career that I am not too sure if it is God’s will for me, still go ahead and ask Him to guide you and allow His will to be done in your life because He said through Apostle Paul in Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
If you allow God, He will do His will on earth through you and the world will never forget you because generations to come will be blessed by you. So, don’t think small, trust the big God to do big things through you. So stay in His purpose.
God bless you and see you next month.
