OUR MONTH OF FAVOUR

Dearly beloved, welcome to the month of October, our month of favour.

The month of October is tagged by the Spirit of God as our month of favour. It is the month that God’s grace will be expressed in us through the supernatural working of the power of God. The Bible told us in Genesis 25:21-23, that Rebekah, Isaac’s wife was barren but the husband entreated the Lord for her and she conceived. But she discovered that there was a great tussle for dominance in her womb. She inquired of the Lord and discovered that she had twins in her. Genesis 25:23, “And the LORD said unto her, two nations are in the womb and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels and the one people shall be stronger than the other people and the elder shall serve the younger.”
But these two nations in Rebekah’s womb are allegory of the two testaments expressed by the Spirit of God through Paul in Romans 9;10-13, “And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac; (For the children being not yet born neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) it was said unto her, the elder shall serve the younger. As it is written, Jacob have I loved but Esau have I hated.” What the Spirit of God is insinuating through the Apostle Paul is that Jacob was favoured by God not by works but by election through the promise. Jacob actually didn’t deserve it but yet God chose him, he was not qualified for it, yet God favoured him. May God grant you favour this month in Jesus name.

Beloved, just like Jacob we are that nation that God has decided to favour because we like Jacob are the children of promise. Even though Esau was the first born and deserved the blessing, it was reversed because of the word of promise, “…the elder shall serve the younger.” – Romans 9:12. That Word of promise led to Jacob obtaining the blessing in Genesis 27:1-29. Galatians 4:28 says thus, “Now we brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.” The scripture above says just like Isaac was a child of promise, so we are. Just like the promise led Jacob to the blessing, may God’s promise concerning you lead you to God’s blessing this month and forever in Jesus name.

Do you know that that blessing invoked upon Jacob also belong to us the real children of Abraham? Galatians 3:16, 29, “Now to Abraham and his seed were the promise made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Romans 9:8, “That is, they which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.” According to the scriptures above, we are the actual children of Abraham (God) and the blessing invoked upon Jacob belong to us.

Let us take a look at that blessing. Genesis 27:28-29, “Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine: Let people serve thee, and nations bow to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother’s sons bow down to thee: cursed be everyone that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.” As children of God in this ministry, washed in the blood of the lamb, may these blessing begin to materialize in your life in Jesus name. But for this blessing to work, you must walk in the faith of Abraham (i.e. Jacob) – Romans 4:12. What was it Jacob did to provoke the blessing?

 1. YOU MUST MAKE UP YOUR MIND TO BE A CONSISTENT TITHER – Genesis 28:20-22, “And Jacob vowed a vow, saying if God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, so that I come again to my father’s house in peace: then shall the LORD be my God: And the stone, which I have set for a pillar shall be God’s house: and of all that thou shall give me I will surely gibe the tenth unto thee.”

 2. REFUSE TO REVENGE WHEN YOU ARE ILL-TREATED. Genesis 29:18-28. Though Jacob served for seven years for Rachel but instead Laban gave him Leah. He never sought for revenge but instead served another seven years for Rachel.

 3. BE DILIGENT TO SERVE OTHERS AND DO NOT TAKE WHAT DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU. BE FAITHFUL. Genesis 31:38-41. Jacob was a faithful man. He never betrayed Laban or stole from his flocks. Child of God be faithful.

 4. BE A GIVER. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EVERY OPPORTUNITY YOU HAVE TO GIVE OR SOW. Genesis 32:13-15. Jacob gave a great seed unto his brother Esau. Be quick to sow.

 5. FOLLOW THE LEADING OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD AND HIS WORD. Genesis 31:11-13, 35:1-6.Finally my beloved, follow the leading of God’s word and the Spirit of God. If you do, you will never miss it in life.

May God bless and prosper you and grant you favour in every aspects of your life. May you not want or lack. May your store house be filled with all the goodness of God in Jesus name – Amen.

 See you next month.
