FOOD FOR TEENS: HOW DO WE GET THERE?

Hello my dearly beloved teens. I welcome you to the March edition of food for teens. I know you are growing in the grace and knowledge of God.

Everyone on earth is on a mission and running a race, everyman is on a journey whether he is aware of it or not and where ever he ends up can only be determined by him. The words “destiny” and “destination” have the same root meaning and to some extent I think they are one and the same.

Destination talks of a final point a person is expected to end his or her journey. Destiny tells of the final point where a person is expected to end his or her life, it is the key moment, the climax of a man’s life. Everyman is supposed to live a life with the consciousness of his/her purpose. Jesus Christ said something remarkable about His purpose in John 4:32 -34; “But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat? Jesus saith unto them, my meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work."

Jesus Christ Likened His purpose on earth to food, this is because to fulfill purpose, we need to focus and live by it just as we would do natural food. Jesus went further to tell us in Luke 4:4,  "And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God." He also said in Matthew 6:36; "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof."
Once we as believers are focused on our purpose in Christ, we would easily excel in everything else. For every believer our purpose can only be found in Christ Jesus, so to fulfill that purpose we need him. Everyone is predestined for greatness beyond their own imagination but this can only be achieved in Christ. The problem is that people keep trying to fulfill purpose by their strength, but the truth is, if you really want to fulfill purpose and get to your God’s given destination you need to decide which means by which you want to get to your destination (destiny).

There are two ways for everyman to get to their destination and they are:

1. Through the air (those who allow the Holy Spirit and God’s Word to direct them (John 16:13)

2. Through Land (those who depend on their wisdom and the wisdom of the world)

Difference between those who allow God to guide them through His Word and His Spirit and those who are guided by their senses and the world system are:

· Just Like a plane moving from Benin to Lagos, these travelers do not move like other people towards Lagos road where they will get vehicle heading to Lagos, instead they move in the opposite direction from those traveling on land. Same way those who move towards their destiny by the Spirit always seem to be making decisions contrary to those walking in the flesh. Most times they are referred to as “foolish” because the natural man cannot understand the things of the spirit (1st Corinthians 2:14)

· People traveling on land always depend on what they can see to guide them, they really are led by their circumstances but the plane that travels by air is not guided by what he can see but by someone from a control room somewhere. In like manner spiritually minded believers are always led by the things that are not seen and walk by faith trusting in the wisdom of God’s word

· Road networks on land are usually designed to go round buildings and different structures which usually makes traveling by land longer. In the same manner those who are carnally minded usually compromise a lot in their journey through life which makes it difficult for them to get to their destination.

· The man who works in the flesh which is like a vehicle traveling on land always have to contend with a lot of other vehicles heading in the same direction and opposite direction while in the air the oppositions are different and most times require different technique to overcome them

· The man who flies to his destination always gets there way before the man who travels on land.

· For you to really go far or do big things for Christ you need to travel by air(by the help of the Spirit).

Jesus said in John 3:8, “The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.” My Question to you is: How do you plan to get to your destination (destiny)?

See you next month and God Bless you.
