YOUR INNER INDICATOR

Hello my beloved saints, I bring you greetings in the name of Jesus Christ. May God’s abundant grace abound in your life. I am sharing with you this month of March what I titled, “Your Inner Indicator.”

1st Timothy 1:18-19, “This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee that thou by them mightiest war a good warfare; Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck.” There are two things that make the things you do to produce results, they are faith and a good conscience. When these two things are in place, you will always win at all that you do. They are your power booster. They represent your confidence and lead the way to success in your life.

The Apostle John said in 1st John 3:20-22, “For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.” What then is a good conscience? A good conscience is when your heart condemns you not, while a bad conscience is when your heart condemns you. John said, if you have a good conscience whatever you ask from God, you will receive because you do what He says. Which means as a child of God whenever you walk against God’s word you are bound to feel guilty and have a bad conscience. Until you settle the issue of your conscience, you may not have answers to your prayers because your confidence will go down the drain. Like I said before, a good conscience is a confidence booster and Hebrews 10:35 tells us not to cast it away.

Your conscience describes the condition of your heart with God. If your conscience is right, you have a good relationship with God. But if your conscience is bad, your relationship with God will be bad too. But it is important you fix your heart condition with God in prayer and genuine repentance. All believers have conscience but not all have trained their conscience. Until you train or exercise your conscience it will not know the difference between good and bad. When one becomes a Christian, his conscience comes alive but it must be trained by the word of God to know both good and evil – Hebrews 5:14. A believer must train himself on how to please God by knowing what is required of him and what is not. By the time he is schooled in the word of God, whenever he displeases God his conscience begins to ring like a bell asking for repentance.

Our conscience is like those indicators on the dashboard of our cars. They tell us when the oil in your car needs to be checked. They tell us when you need to fix your brake etc. When you ignore these signs or indicators, you pay dearly for it because it will cause a permanent damage to your car. If you ignore the voice of your conscience or its signals you may regret it for the rest of your life.

If you refuse to train yourself in the word of God by submitting to it, your conscience becomes callous and hard. That is what scriptures refer to as a reprobate mind or heart. – Romans 1:28, “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.” A man with a reprobate mind is wild and uncontrollable. He does what seems pleasing to him. He refuses counsel and instructions and walk in the vanity of his mind. He is blind but he doesn’t know it. He is always right in his own conceit. He is like a sheep without shepherd, a dog that never hears his master whistle. He is drawing closer and closer to the pit of hell and destruction. He always has several reasons why he shouldn’t believe nor act according to God’s instruction. But he didn’t come to that place overnight. He came there by refusing obedience in the little things until his flesh and the devil overwhelmed him.

Beloved be careful. “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23. Always yield to the alarm in your conscience. Do not bury anything that your conscience kicks against, they will go before you to bear fruits only that the harvest or fruits will be detrimental to the great plan and purpose that God has prepared for you. Be careful!

God richly bless you. See you next month.
