IT'S NOT WORTH IT: IMPATIENCE

Hello beloved, you are welcome to the month of August. I thank the Lord for you. For the manifestation of His word and power in your life. May you abound more and more in His grace and revelation in the name of Jesus. In this month edition, I will be sharing with you on what I titled “IMPATIENCE.”

Humanity is constantly on the move. They want fast food, fast service, fast husbands, fast cars, fast houses etc. And when they don’t get what they want, they get impatient and want somebody to pay for not doing something when they want it to be done. Many people today, even Christians are into the mess they are in because of lack of patience. Some are into wrong jobs, marriages, relationships, businesses just for the sake of a decision of being impatient.

Impatience is expensive and the consequences may be more than we can imagine. Frequently, impatience forces one to do things without considering the outcome and as a result he or she fails to fulfill the intended purpose. In 1st Samuel 13:8-10, the Bible says, “And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from Him. And Saul said, Bring hither a burnt offering to me, and peace offering. And he offered the burnt offering. And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came…”

King Saul was to wait for Samuel to come offer the sacrifice, in preparation for the war against the Philistines. Offering that sacrifice was exclusively the responsibility of Samuel the prophet; but when Samuel delayed, Saul couldn’t wait. He went ahead and offered the sacrifice. Interestingly, he was still at it when Samuel walked in. Samuel then said to him, “Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD they God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established they kingdom upon Israel forever. But now thy kingdom shall not continue…" (1st Samuel 13:13-14a). God has made a promise to Saul that his dynasty would be forever, but Saul lost it. His demonstration of impatience cost him and his lineage the kingship.

To deal impatiently is to deal foolishly because God is a God of patience and we cannot be more knowledgeable than He is. In 1st Corinthians 1:25, the Bible says, “Because the foolishness of God is wiser than man…” You cannot beat Him at His game. The Bible calls Him the God of patience (Romans 15:5), so as a child of God, where are you in a hurry to. Many are impatient because they really don’t trust God, so they try to “help” Him (God) bring His word to pass quickly.

To everything there is a season and time to every purpose under the heaven (Ecclesiastes 3:1) The season for mangoes, is not the season for cherry. The time of delivery of a dog is not the same as that of an elephant. But something is certain, you will give birth in the name of Jesus. "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes…” Proverbs 3:5-7.

Take a look at our father Abraham, who had to wait for God’s promise of a son for 25 years before he showed up. We must stand like Abraham in Romans 4:17-21 because God is not a man that He should lie. Abraham didn’t just get the son but also had all those wasted years restored. Patience is an inseparable partner of faith. You cannot say you are trusting God and you are impatient. It won’t work. Stand still and you shall see the salvation of the Lord (Exodus 14:13). To be still means to trust God and be patient even in the midst of the seemingly turbulent storm.

“Be confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6). Beloved, He will perform that Job, family, marriage, house, vision, that desire of yours, all you have to do is be patient and trust in Him because only those through faith (trust, confidence) and patience will inherit the promise. (Hebrews 6:12)

You are blessed. See you next month.
