FOOD FOR TEENS: Purpose, Mission & Vision part 2

Continued from last edition…

VISION:

Colossians 1:9-10, “For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.”  Vision comes after you have sought the kingdom through service and prayer, like the above scripture, Apostle Paul after he heard of the love the Colossian church towards one another, he prayed that God should f ill them with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.

Habakkuk 2:1-2, “I will stand upon my watch and set me upon the tower and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. And the Lord answered me, and said, write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.”  Through prayers and waiting on God, you begin to see and understand his will better in specific terms. In your life, God begins to reveal His will for you in ways, you can relate to it. It is no longer strange but specific.

Vision is that image of the end which God shows to you from the beginning and subsequently through which God guides us to that specific thing He wants to achieve on earth through us. Hebrews 12;2b, “Who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Abraham, Isaac and Jacob etc. all had vivid images of the specific and ultimate goal God wanted to achieve through them. True visions from God concerning a man’s life are always greater than that of man’s imagination. It is so great that without God it will be impossible for that man to achieve it which is why we must trust in Him to bring it to pass in our lives.

MISSION
These are short term goals and targets through which a vision is fulfilled. Missions are visions broken into steps. These are everyday instructions from God which are like the different rungs of the ladder that we must climb to achieve our purpose on earth.

Jesus started by working with His earthly father as a carpenter for the better part of His life here on earth but He wasn’t worried because He knew it was part of God’s plan for His life. He was baptized, tempted, then He preached and then He healed the sick and raised the dead until He finally gave Himself for our sake.

Luke 4:17-19, “And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it is written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

This was the mission of Jesus Christ, all His years of ministry was characterized by those things which He found in the Bible written about Him, even so are our missions scattered throughout the scriptures and we are directed to them through the Spirit of God as we spend regular time in fellowship with Him (remember Jesus Christ just finished His forty days fast when He made these declarations), even so we must sought ourselves in His will daily so that our lives on earth will bear fruits unto righteousness always and ultimately fulfill God’s plan for our lives on the earth

God bless you and see you next month
