FOOD FOR TEENS: Know Thyself part two

Continue from last edition…

2. The Spirit of Life in Christ: The reason why the message of Christ is called the gospel meaning the ‘good news’ is because of what Christ has done in the realm of the Spirit and anyone who believes and accept Him must also understand that the work of Jesus was done in our spirit and with that consciousness, we will begin to enjoy the fruit of Christ.

Our destiny as new creations in Christ is the identity of Jesus Himself (1st John 4:17b) “Because as he is, so are we in this world.” Colossians 2:10, “we are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.” Galatians 2:20, “I am crucified with Christ nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” These and so many other scriptures tells you about your new identity in Christ Jesus. As soon as a person confesses Christ, he or she ceases to be the old person that they once were but he or she becomes exactly like Christ not in the flesh but in the Spirit and remember that the real man is the Spirit man.

Now if you have accepted Jesus and you still find yourself living your old life style even when you make effort to change but you still see no difference even when you make deliberate efforts to change, this is because you still have identity issues. You haven’t really seen who you are now in the spirit that is why you still feel like you are subjected to the elements of this world. But in order for you to really start living the victorious life in Christ, you need to change your perception about yourself and this can only be done by utilizing the power of the mind.

Change how and what you see through your mind’s eyes about yourself. How? The Bible already told us that we are one with Christ and Christ dwells in our Spirit and He told us in John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and this life no man cometh unto the father, but by me.” Jesus is the new life that you want to start living now that you are saved. It is only right that you start looking at Him with the eyes of your mind and see yourself in Him. The more you picture Jesus as a reflection of who you are now in Him, the more you will understand your true person and will never sell yourself short. James 1:22-24 tells us about that person who continues to see himself in Christ, he said this man will win always.

How do I look at Jesus and continue? There is a reason why the life of Jesus on earth was documented in few books called the gospel. This is to enable every believer take his true identity in Christ. Jesus Christ is our standard bearer, there is nothing you are going through that the Holy Spirit can’t guide you out of through the life of Jesus Christ.

He is the truth, which means is the true reality of the kind of life that you are supposed to live here on earth as a believer. Let me give this instance, you came into the body of Christ fighting several bad habits that just wouldn't go in spite of all your efforts in the flesh, you struggle because you want to change by your flesh but in your flesh dwelleth sin and death and no good thing, if you really want to win, remove your confidence in your flesh and look at the righteousness that you have in Christ Jesus (1st Corinthians 1:30), thank Him every day for this nature and His life that you have. Declare it and picture Jesus how He lived on earth, how He didn't struggle with sin because of the life that was in Him while He was on earth. Do this at least three times a day and continue this routine every day for a period of time, I guarantee you that habit will break after a while, not by your power but by the Spirit of God that is why 2nd Corinthians 4:7, tells us that, “We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God and not of us.”

This is how you live the successful life of God without struggle, remember Matthew 11:28, go to Jesus with your problems and He will give you rest.

May God bless you, see you next month
