IT'S NOT WORTH IT: Snared With Your Words part two

Greetings beloved, I welcome you to the month of April. I hope you are increasing in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Here is a continuation of last month’s topic “SNARED WITH YOUR WORDS.”

Do you know that words can be the key to your success or the reason for your downfall? The Bibles says in Hebrews 1:3, Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things are seen were not made of the things which do appear.” You can obviously see that the physical world where you dwell now was structured, framed, and fashioned by the word of God. Not this, God is trying to make you see that your words have the capacity to frame your world, if only such words are God’s word. According to the epistle of James chapter 3, your tongue and your words will be to your life what a steering wheel is to a car. Whichever direction the steering wheel turns the car follows. In the same manner, your direction and course in life is determined by the words of your mouth.

Your words are powerful, either for the good of life or for evil. But sadly, many Christians ignorantly have turned the arrow against themselves. Proverbs 21:23 (MSG) says, “Watch your words and hold your tongue; you’ll save yourself a lot of grief.” Many Christians don’t know how to watch the word that comes out from their mouth; hence their lives have gone in the direction of their words. They are in pain; sick, indebted, disappointed some are even dead. But all these were not purposed by God for them, but they acquired, allowed and gave license to the devil through the words from their mouth.

The old saying; “TALK IS CHEAP” is a lie, it’s a myth? Why? Because talk is very expensive. What a person says, and the words he speaks is ultimately what he gets and what he pays for in life. The real truth is that the words of your own mouth can bring you success or failure, strength or weakness, victory or defeat, freedom or bondage, health or sickness, faith or fear, provision or hardship, courage or discouragement.

How often do you hear believers saying words like “I am so confused; I can’t do anything right’ or “Nothing good ever comes my way; Am dead.” Proverbs 18:21 says, “Life and death are in the power of the tongue.” When people that way they may not realize it, but they end up ‘hung’ by the tongue and curse their future. Those negative words register deeply in their minds before long, they are brainwashed negatively and limp through life with defeated mentality, low self-worth and diminished confidence. Worse yet, this negative mindset can seriously hinder and put limit on God’s plan for their lives. Both death and life are in the power of the tongue, so you must choose your words carefully (Proverbs 18:21)

Your words are the keys to victory or defeat. What about your words? What are you saying when you speak to your spouse, to your children, to others, to yourself, to your business, to your academics, to your finance? Are you speaking words of life or death, faith or fear, victory or defeat? Are you cursing or blessing your future?  Deuteronomy 30:19 says, “I call heaven and earth to record this against you that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life that both thou and thy seed may live.” How do you make a choice through your words?

Beloved, make up your mind, to always make good use of your words from now henceforth because by your words, you shall be justified and by your words you shall be condemned (Matthew 12:37)

God bless you. See you next month.
