CHRISTAIN RESPONSIBILITY

Hello my beloved saints, welcome to the month of August. I know you are waxing stronger in the grace of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. In this edition of the Divine Truth, I will like to enlighten you on “Christian Responsibility.”
Soulwinning is one of the most important responsibilities bestowed upon us as Christians. It is something we have to take seriously, just as it is taken seriously by God. Do you know that it is because of lost souls that Jesus Christ came? To ensure that people come to the light and know the truth. There is no one who is going to tell the unsaved about Jesus except you and I; and if we fail in that responsibility, they will go to hell.

The Bible says in the book of John 3:17-18 thus, “For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” God didn’t send Jesus to condemn the world or point accusing fingers at sinners but for the salvation of the world. So many of us do not really know the importance of what Jesus Christ did for us; because we feel we are still breathing therefore we are alive but you must realise that if you are not born again, you are dead. Any body who is not born again has no place in the presence of God and cannot have relationship with God. Remember God told Adam in the garden that “...the day you eat of this tree you shall surely die.” (Genesis 2:17). You might say but they ate of it and didn’t die immediately. What He meant was that, the day you eat of it, His life will leave you. You will no longer carry Him in you. You will be cut off from the source of life. There are many people walking the streets that are cut off from the source of life. Except you receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour you have no life in you.

To be condemned means to be marked for destruction. For unbelievers, as far as God is concerned they are marked for destruction. It is our responsibility to bring some out. Several years ago, there was this popular young man, who was always on television. He wasn’t a Christian. I will often pray for God to send someone to reach out to him, because he was too intelligent to go to hell. One day, my car broke down and I had to drop it off at the mechanics for repairs. While I was waiting for a bus, a car pulled over and the driver offering me a lift to my destination. Lo and behold it was the same young man on television I have been praying for. I quickly used the opportunity to preach the gospel unto him. I am trying to make you understand how important souls are to God. Except somebody prays God can’t do much, God can only work to the extent of your prayers and the willingness of the saints to go out and minister the gospel.

The Bible says in the book of Hebrews 13:10-13 thus, “We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle. For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest of sin, are burned without the camp. Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood suffered without the gate. Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.” In the old testament when a lamb is brought for a sacrifice, they kill the lamb outside the camp. The same was done to Jesus. He suffered and was killed outside the gate of Jerusalem, then in verse 13 He says, Let us go forth unto him outside the camp. We are sent to go outside the church to tell the unsaved to receive Jesus. Our Holiness should not end in church. What are you doing with the Holy Ghost and the power that you carry? They are not only given to you to enjoy but also to win souls for Jesus. Look at the Bible in the book of Acts 1:8, “But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all judea, and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” The power that you recieve when the Holy Ghost has come upon you is for witnessing. Every thing that you have is given to you to witness for Jesus. Your money, your intelligence, your beauty, use everything to the advantage of the gospel, to promote the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In the book of 2nd Corinthians 5:18-19 the Bible says, “All things are of God who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.” We have been given a ministry to reconcile the unsaved unto God. This is the embodiment of the assignment God has given us. We are to speak the word of reconciliation to the unsaved. Therefore, we have to take this assignment seriously. The Bible says in the book of Mark 16:15-16 after Jesus had revealed Himself unto his disciples, “...go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; and he that believeth not shall be damned.” Anytime you are ashamed to tell somebody about Jesus, you are not ready to bear His reproach. You must be able to boldly display Jesus without caring about the criticism that may come.

So many of us live with or even have siblings and friends that are unsaved, yet you’ve never told them about Jesus. For some of you it has gotten to the point where sinners are so comfortable doing the wrong things in your presence. It means something is wrong. Let your light so shine, let them see your good works and give glory to Jesus. If Jesus isn’t getting glory from your life, then something is missing in heaven because of you. The ministry has not changed since the time of John. The same ministry God gave to John is the same ministry He has given to us. While John was preaching for the first coming of Jesus, we are preaching for the second coming of Jesus Christ; so that people will not go to hell. In John 1:6-7 the Bible says, “There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the light, that all men through him might believe.” You have to replace the name John with your name, and fulfill your ministry of reconciliation. You came to bear witness of the light (Jesus) that all men through you might be saved. How many souls have you saved? Jesus is not satisfied with any Christian who doesn’t bear fruit. John 15:8 says, “ Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit, so shall ye be my disciples.” If you want to make God joyful about you and be glorified in your life, bring forth fruit in every aspect of your life. Any Christian that doesn't bring forth fruits does not command the attention of God. It is when you bear much fruit that you are called a disciple. God’s attention is directed to those who are producers not just consumers. In the book of John 1:7-8 the Bible says, “The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the light, that all men through him might believe. He was not the light, but was sent to bear witness of that light.” A witness is somebody who has experienced or observed something and he believes it and he is testifying of what he has seen. If you have nothing to say about Jesus, tell somebody what Jesus has done for you. Share your testimony of how God has touched your life. There are no little miracles when it comes to Jesus.

You might ask what do I stand to gain? As soul winners, there are many things we stand to gain. The Bible says in Proverbs 11:30 thus, “The fruit of righteousness is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” This is simply saying that, if you are a Christian and you are not a soul winner, you are a foolish Christian because that is the integral part of our assignment. This is an assignment you must not play with. Daniel 12:3 says, “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as stars forever and ever.” That is the eternal benefits of being a soul winner. Those who win souls command the blessings of God. Zechariah 10:1 says, “Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; so the LORD shall make bright clouds and give them showers of rain to every one grass in the field.” The scripture above is simply saying that when you pray, God will make the supply to those in the field, not the ones sitting at home or to those in Church. The ones in the field working for God are the ones that will be blessed with anointing of the Spirit of God. God’s blessings are made predominately for those who work for God. Those who serve God, commands God’s attention. The Bible also says in Exodus 23:25-26 thus, “And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren in thy land; the number of thy days I will fulfill.”

Jesus says in John 4:34-38 thus, “Jesus saith unto them, my meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. Say not ye, there are yet four months and then cometh harvest. Behold, I say unto you; Lift up your eyes and look on the fields, for they are white and ready to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. And herein is that saying true, one soweth, and another reapeth. I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labour.” Jesus has done the work; you go and pick the harvest and bring them home and the reward is your portion in Jesus name.

God bless you. See you next month.
