POWER IN YOUR WORDS PART TWO

There is something that we must come to realize and know about Christianity, everything that we do in Christendom is geared towards achieving one purpose; that you learn how to trust and please God. He wants all your trust to be Him. After you have received Christ, the next thing He wants to teach you is how to trust Him and trust nothing else but Him. Everything we are doing in Christendom is how to recognize one person, Jesus Christ and Him crucified and how to put our confidence in Him. If you don’t trust Jesus, you can’t live for Him. When you begin to live for somebody and do what that person says  you should to do; it is as a result of the fact that you trust that person. When your trust and confidence in God begins to increase, you begin to live your life to please Him. The Bible tells us in the book of Colossians 1:10 thus, “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.” Our focus should be on walking to please Him, this is God’s focus, this is the reason we come to church and teach you always. To remind you of this truth, so that you can remember it and put your confidence in Jesus. When your confidence shifts away from Jesus, you lose Him.

The Bible says in the book of 1st Timothy 4:7,”But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.” Another meaning for the word exercise is training. Train yourself to be godly, in other words, train yourself to act, think and talk like God. Have you ever seen God fail or heard that God failed? It is impossible, it is unlike God to fail. That is how our lives should be because we have His life in us; we have His DNA in us. A Christian ought not to fail at anything he or she does and you don’t have any license or right to fail.

There is something we need to learn about God, when He said train yourself to be godly; one of the things that we must look at is that God is a God of faith. Have you ever read in the Bible where God says He cannot do something? No, because He doesn’t fail. It is impossible for Him to fail. How does He win and make things to work? By His Words. Once He speaks, it sticks and it must come to pass except He changes it. The Bible is saying to us, you must imbibe that character of knowing that there is power in your words, that when you speak it must come to pass. You can give life to your business, you can give life to your marriage through your words. Whenever God speaks to anything that is dead, it comes back to life. God’s word carries life and no matter how dried and lifeless a situation is when He speaks into it, life comes into it. That is your life. There is power in our words and you must ensure that you are careful of what comes out of your mouth because often time we use the sword against ourselves instead of using it to our advantage. Use your words well, don’t kill yourself by what you say (James 3:3-8).

When Jesus resurrected from the grave, two of His disciples were on their way to a village called Heammaus  and Jesus Christ appeared to them and inquired of them why they were so sad and they began to speak about Jesus, How mighty He is in indeed and in words before God and men, and how the chief priests and rulers crucified him, how they trusted that he was the messiah. Jesus said something to them in Luke 24:25 thus, “Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken.” When you don’t believe God’s word, and what the word of God says, God calls such persons fools because you have overthrown yourself, you have taken mercy away from yourself. When you don’t trust God, God says you are slow in heart to believe. Many Christians are slow in heart to believe because they rely on their reasoning instead of believing. Believing has nothing to do with the mind. Your mind knows things but your heart believes. That is why the Bible says, you must believe with your heart, you miss God when you try to believe with your mind. Train yourself to believe God, train yourself to trust Him because the more you trust in Him the more your trust your own words.

The Bible says in Hebrews 11:3 thus, “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” The things that you see around you were not created from the things that you can see, feel and handle. How then was it created? It was created by God’s word. How did God create the world? Genesis 1:1-5 says, “ In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light day, and the darkness he called night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.” In verse two the Bible says that the “Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters,” I want you to understand that the Spirit of God hovered around the situation and yet the situation remained the same. Because God is with you doesn’t mean that things will change. You have to make God bless you. If you want change in your life, you must Jump to verse 3, “And God said.” Until you speak nothing changes. In the actual Hebrew rendering of Genesis 1:3, God said, “Light Be.” That is a command, He is teaching you that God created the earth by command. He used words of authority spoken to a chaotic earth full of problems. Authority must be expressed if you want to see change manifest in your situation. You must learn to use your authority in that situation confronting you. If you don’t speak, you will never see God manifest in your life; because your words are the materials needed for change in your life. God doesn’t have a direction He is taking your life to until you speak. You’ve got to tell the Holy Ghost how you want your life to be and where you are going to for Him to swing into action.

In verse 4 of Genesis 1, He said, “And God saw the light, that it was good...”  What do you see when you speak? What you speak is what you see and what you see is what you have. If you don’t see it, it will never come to pass. What do you see when you speak healing? Do you see yourself healed or still sick? If you see it as the sickness is still there, the sickness remains. This is the reason a lot of people pray and they go out and continue to say how they still feel because that is what they see. Because they feel that the situation has not changed. You ought to be seeing the healing. God spoke, “Light Be,” He saw light. Many of us think that when He said light be, light showed up. No, darkness persisted but He refused to see darkness, He saw light. The Bible says that God made light to shine forth out of darkness (2nd Corinthians 4:6). The Bible told us in the book of Romans 4:17 thus, “...who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things that be not as though they were.” That is how He quickens the dead, by saying that there is life in you. Even though you don’t feel like it, when you believe it the life will come. What you see is what you get; you might be speaking good things about your business, about your marriage nothing changes. You’ve got to start seeing what you are speaking not what is there. The Bible says in Jeremiah 1:11-12, “Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree. Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.” God performs what you see because what you see is what you believe. Genesis 13:14-15 says, “And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed forever.” The place where you are might not be comfortable, might be to small or unpleasant but look away from there. Can you look at your awesome future that you have ahead of you. It is not who you are now, it is who God has created  you to be. There is something ahead of you. What you see is what you get.

When I talk about seeing, I am not talking about seeing with your physical eyes. You physical eyes cannot believe. You are a spirit and you live in a body and you have a soul. There is another set of eyes inside of you and it is called the eyes of your understanding (Ephesians 1:18-21).  That is the eyes that must see, that is the eyes that can believe. “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye ,may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places. Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come”- Ephesians 1:18-21. The Lord wants you to see yourself like you are in the spirit. We win, we succeed, we overcome by our spirit not by your physical might.

Apostle Paul asked a question in the book of 2nd Corinthians 10:7, “Do ye look on things after the outward appearance?...” Do you evaluate things based on what you can see with your optical eyes? We don’t look on things based on what we can see with the optical eyes; we look on things based on what the word of God says. In 2nd Corinthians 10:3-5 the Bible says, “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not canal, but might through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into the captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” If the eyes of your imagination is closed, that destiny is closed. You’ve to see yourself through scriptures with the eyes of your imagination. As you see yourself through scriptures that is what you become and when you speak it, it sticks and that is who you’ll become. What you see in your imagination is what your life turns out to be. This is the reason things are not working in the life of many people, no matter how you pray for them nothing changes because they see themselves already defeated.

You must learn to train yourself and trust God. Never doubting but standing firm on your ground until what you are believing God for happens. Doubt is the enemy that you need to deal with for you to be successful. What is doubt? How do I know that I am doubting or believing? Jesus said in the book of Matthews 13:41, “And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? Peter doubted, what did Peter do to express his doubt? Matthew 14:25-30, “And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, it is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.” The first ingredient of doubt, is walking by your sight. Have you ever seen wind in your life? Have you ever seen sickness? Have you ever seen poverty in your life? Peter didn’t see wind, he only saw what the wind was doing. You don’t see fever, you only see what the fever is doing. You don’t see poverty, you only see what the poverty is doing. What you feel, see or hear paints a picture in your mind. What the devil does is to create a shaking and your mind begins to paint a picture, then your imagination picks it up. That is the fight of faith, to either see the picture the devil paints or the picture that God paints in His word. Which do you believe? If you believe the picture that the boisterous winds paints like Peter and you begin to say it, you begin to sink. Walking by your sight, walking by your feeling is the description of doubt. The second description of doubt is being afraid, “But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid...” – Matthew 14:30.  Any where there is faith, there is no fear. In the book of 1st Timothy 6:12 the Bible says fight the good fight of faith. What is the good fight of faith? It is to fight your doubt. Fight the fight of faith, put the word in your mouth, don’t change it, don’t doubt.

God bless you. See you next month.
