IT'S NOT WORTH IT: DON'T DISREGARD THE WORD OF GOD

Dearly beloved, you are welcome to the month of march in the name of the Lord Jesus. I thank my God for you for His mercies and covering over you. This month, I will be sharing briefly on what I have titled, Don’t disregard the word of God.’

According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary the word ‘Disregard’ means to pay no attention to: treat as unworthy of regard or notice. So many of God’s children pay no attention to His word and others don’t even regard His word. But its bitter to tell you that disregarding God’s word is simply co-operating with the devil for your own limitation, deception and finally destruction.

Beloved, I want you to come to this understanding that God is already God and whatsoever He has instructed in His word is not for His benefits but yours. The Bible says in Psalm 107:20, “He sent his word and healed them and delivered them from their destruction.” God doesn’t need the word to be healed because he is God and can never be sick neither does He need it for his deliverance. 2nd Peter 1:4 says, “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the DIVINE NATURE, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” When you continuously disregard the word of God, you are simply cutting yourself away from God’s divine life and you begin to open the door for Satan and his cohorts. May that not be your portion in Jesus name.

In Exodus 9:18-21,24,25, the Bible says, “Behold tomorrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the foundation thereof even until now. Send therefore now, and gather thy cattle and all that thou hast in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field, and shall not be brought home. The hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die. He that feared the Word of the LORD among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants his cattle flee into the houses. And he that regarded not the word of the LORD left his servants and his cattle in the field. So there was hail and fire mingled with the hail, every grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field and brake every tree of the field.” Though these people were enemies of God, through Moses, God told them what He was going to do and gave them instructions how to avert themselves from the pending destruction. Some yielded to the instructions and were saved, while many were destroyed along side their businesses because they disregarded the word of God.

The Bible says in Genesis 2:16-17, “And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” Adam and eve plunged the world to the problem its in now, because they disregarded the word of God. They ate of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, though they didn’t die physically immediately but they died spiritually which later manifested into physical death. A Christian disregarding the word of God is like a fish wanting to live outside water, such won’t last for long. God so much wants His best for you only if you will totally yield to His word in total obedience and without compromise. 1st Samuel 2:30 says, “...Be it far from me: for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.” How do you honour God? You honour God by completely yielding and doing the word. Don’t be like king Saul after hearing the instructions of God from the mouth of Prophet Samuel chose to yield and honour the words of men instead of the word of God and his kingship and kingdom was taken away from him (1st Samuel 15).
