FOOD FOR TEEN: KINGS & PRIESTS (ROYAL PRIESTHOOD)

Dear Teens, I would like to welcome you to another month of God’s faithfulness. I pray that you experience God like never before in your life in Jesus name.

When Jesus redeemed us through His death, burial and resurrection, our spiritual status changed, we were elevated into new status called the Royal Priesthood. The Royal priesthood is a combination of two offices, Royalty which is kingship, and Priesthood. Revelation 1:5-6, “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” Levels have changed, as a believer you are a king and a priest, you must walk in this consciousness and be serious about it for you to succeed as a believer in this earth. It is a great privilege for you to be honored with such status, even as it was said concerning Jesus in Hebrews 5:4, “And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.”

Now let us X-ray these two offices one after the other.

1. Kings: A chief ruler; a sovereign; one invested with supreme authority over a nation, country, or tribe, usually by hereditary succession; a monarch; a prince.

As Royalty, your bloodline is unique, you carry the life of God and His authority has been bestowed upon to rule over your world but there are certain attributes of a king in the kingdom of God, let us look at some of them;

a) Kings are servants:

Mark 10:42-44, “But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.  But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:  And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.” A king in the kingdom must serve all, he must care about the collective interest of every one he is leading than for himself alone. He leads with love, he doesn’t bully or take advantage of his subordinates but to help everyone succeed, this should be your attitude wherever you find yourself

b) Kings go after knowledge:

Proverbs 25:2, “It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.” Kings do not get tired of learning, it is the only way they can be more effective to their subordinates, they do not let others do the thinking for them, they search for knowledge to find solutions to problems. In the Old Testament, kings like pharaoh and Nebuchadnezzar would desire to get to the end of a matter, which always brought salvation and understanding to them. Go for knowledge, study the word, read books and increase in knowledge.

c) Kings do not live for pleasure:

Ecclesiastes 10:16-17, “Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning! Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!” Proverbs 31:3-5, “Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings. It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.” Leave a life of purpose and not for pleasure, pursuer after those things that are pleasing to your Heavenly Father, not on earthly pleasures, they will bring you down if you do

d) They judge righteously and defend the helpless:

Psalm 82:2-4 KJV, “How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah. Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.” You have been placed here to be the voice to the voiceless, a father to the fatherless. Be good to all men, don’t make exceptions. Proverbs 29:14, “The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.”

e) Kings decree

Ecclesiastes 8:4, “Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?” Make decree on the earth, speak what you desire to see happen in your world, your worlds carry power, they must come to pass.

That’s how you build your reality upon the earth. God bless you, we will continue from here next month.
