FOOD FOR TEENS:WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN PART 2

Image
Question 4: Why/How did their sin/disobedience become our problem?   Adam and Eve were man’s first parent, they were saddled with the responsibility of choosing the type of life every man should live, they chose the lesser life of sin and death and as a result, all their descendants being that they were seeds of Adam carried in them his D.N.A which was the D.N.A of sin and death, which is why no man could and can please God in the flesh.   Question 5: How/What did Jesus do to save us from this mess that Adam got us into?   Firstly, now there was the issue of sin which would always make it impossible for man to please God because man must be judged for his wickedness and our God is a just God. So, Jesus Christ being the perfect sacrifice without spot and blemish had to give himself (shed His blood) for our sins. Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Hebrews 9:22, “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and wit...

IT'S NOT WORTH IT:HARDEN NOT YOUR HEART

Image
Greetings   beloved, I welcome you to the month of September. I hope you are increasing in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ? I will like to admonish you on what I titled ‘Harden Not Your Heart.' The writer of Hebrews warned, “Do not harden your heart.” (Hebrews 3:8), What are the consequences of a hard heart? The writer gave some examples in   verses 18-19; “And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.” Unbelievers who fail to listen to the voice of God fail to enter God’s eternal rest. But there is also a rest right now, a place of blessing that God wants us to live in. If we continually harden our hearts against God, then we will not experience the place of rest. The Israelites were not able to enter the place of blessing because of unbelief. When you harden your heart against God so many times, there comes a point at which you are no longer able...

JOY ( A GREAT VIRTUE PART 2)

Image
WHAT JOY? There is a difference between the ordinary joy people experience and the joy that the Bible talks about. Worldly joy comes as a result of temporary circumstances, like promotion at work, new job, increase salary, the birth of a baby etc. This is the joy that comes as a result of outward circumstances, this type of joy is short lived and temporal because they are controlled or determined by the circumstances of life. But the joy the scriptures talks about is called the joy of the Lord, it is the joy that comes from your inner being as a result of your relationship with the Lord. It has nothing to do with your outer circumstances. It is a joy that is deeply rooted in your heart through the promises of God and the person of the Holy Ghost. WHAT IS THIS JOY? 1.      It is the fruit of the recreated human spirit. Galatians 5:22, “But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy…” Joy as one of the fruit of the spirit is birthed in your heart the very moment you re...

IT'S NOT WORTH IT: REBELLION part two

Image
Dearly beloved, I welcome you to the month of August in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. May the glory of God be revealed in you more this month. Here is a continuation of last month’s edition.  Romans 13:3 says, “For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same.” God has set up and arranged a divine order to life. He has established positions of authority in the world to protect and guard its citizens. He used government, judicial systems and other civil authorities to bring order and keep peace; these are put in place to protect us.  As such, when we rebel against those put in place to protect us we are rebelling against God’s institution. As believers we need to understand submission to authority. To live at peace with one another and to obey those who rule over us. If we do right, we will live without fear of consequences. If we do wron...

Food For Teens: WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN? Part one

Image
The world is what it is and it is in the state that it is in because of what transpired in the garden of Eden. In this edition of the food for teens, we will be answering this question by answering some other questions from the event that took place in the garden of Eden to get a proper perspective of how it affects you as a believer.  Question 1. What was so wrong about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that God told Adam and Eve not to eat of it?   The tree of the knowledge of good and evil represented the flesh, and Adam choosing to eat of it decided to step down and live a lower life of flesh, he chose to work righteousness by his five senses (flesh) and judge good and evil from the lens of his physical eyes and subject his spirit to the wisdom of the flesh.  Choosing to eat of this tree was to say to God ‘I don’t trust your judgement, I could decide my actions by what I see, feel, hear, smell or taste.’ No wonder when they ate of the tree,...

JOY (A Great Virtue)

Image
Hello my dearly beloved saints, I bring you greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I thank God that you are living in grace and victory of our Lord. I want to admonish you on what I titled ‘Joy (a great virtue)’.  The power of God triumph in an atmosphere that is full of joy. The power of God is limited where there is sorrow, unhappiness and gloom. Many people do not know the role that joy plays in obtaining victory from God. Proverbs 17:22 says, “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.”  The first thing that is required of us believers is to carry a joyful countenance. The devil knows that he cannot succeed in our lives when we are joyful, hence he tries to make us unhappy and sorrowful by bringing to our door steps all manner of trials and temptations. But thank God we are more than conquerors through Christ that loved us – Romans 8:37.  Jesus realized the importance of Joy as it relates to ...

FOOD FOR TEENS: Organs of Faith part 2

Image
Continued from last month’s edition… 3. The Eyes of Faith : Just like the ears, the eye is an input organ through which the word of God is digested into our Spirit called meditation. Just like the ears, we also have the physical or optical eyes and the eyes of the spirit. 2nd Corinthians 5:7, “(For we walk by faith, not by sight).” In this passage it talked about two types of sight, the one which is optical has no role to play in walking in faith. In fact, it is counterproductive and contrary to faith but the inner eyes which is the eyes of the spirit in one of the most powerful organs of faith in that it takes the word of God, either written or spoken and creates a mental picture of that which God already produced in the spirit; James 1:25, “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” The eyes of faith are so important that scripture tells us that if w...
