IT'S NOT WORTH IT: THE WAY THAT SEEMS RIGHT TO YOU

Dear beloved, I welcome you earnestly to this glorious month of February. May you increase in the knowledge of God this month in Jesus name, Amen. This month I will be sharing with you on what I titled, “The way that seems right to you.”

How do you define what is right and what is true? Is it based on what you determine to be right in your own eyes or is it based on what the word of God considers to be right? Who, what or where is your view of what is right coming from? Is it “I” according to you? Scriptures says in Psalms 100:3a, “Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves...” If God is our maker, it would make sense that He alone knows what is right, therefore, right would be viewed from the eyes of God and not “I”

In Proverbs 14:12, the Bible says, “There is a way which seemth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” There is danger in believing that what “I” see is right and what God says is wrong. All through the Bible, there are statements designed to make us aware of potential danger. The Lord reveals to us those things, knowing what is best for us and what can hurt our relationship with Him. We are often informed of wrong choices, and told of the expected consequences. We need to be aware of the many times where we are warned and listen to those warnings because we don’t know what is best for us as the Lord does.

In the book of Judges, Israel was in a dark and disastrous period because “everyone did whatever seemed right to him.” (Judges 21:25). This highlights the problem with worldly human wisdom it seems right. And without comparison to the divine perspective, it looks pretty good. But those who won’t seek God’s opinion regarding the right path will pay a high price in the end. Relying solely on human logic to chart the course of your life will lead you on a path of destruction.

As a believers, the word of God is our compass. Scripture declares in Psalm 119:105, “The word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” God’s word is our lamp and light, not what seems right to you. Oh, what a terrible place to be spiritually. A place of self, a place of exclusion of God just to please yourself and look good before men. A place of temporary fixes that ends with eternal consequences. Proverbs 21:2 says, “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the heart.” We can convince ourselves that we can do whatever we think we can, want and have the power to do, but remember, it is God who examines the heart nd will be the final judge in your life.

There is that way that seems right to men, but in the end “THAT WAY” is actually the foolish and the stupid one. If they continue following it and reject the gospel, it will end in death, eternal death in hell.

Jesus Christ referred to himself as the way. He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). But there are other ways that seem awesome upon first glance, especially where the particular path is wide and densely populated. Brothers and sisters, don’t head that way, it might look right, refuse to pave your own way, follow the ancient way God has paved for you and you will be glad you did.

See you next month. God bless you.
